We did it!!

Well the 2010 3day is over, sadly! We had a great weekend!! Here is a little breakdown:

Day 1
We were up bright and early by 4:30 and got ready to head downtown. When we arrived to drop off our gear, I was surprised to see my parents there with balloons for my whole team and there to cheer us on. It made me emotional right off the bat!! Then we dropped off our gear and headed over. My mom gave me the necklace that she had won at the chinese raffle at my spaghetti dinner at the opening ceremonies...once again emotions =) The opening ceremonies were great and Jen got to carry the grandmother flag too and we were all so proud of her!

And....we were off!! Sort of right off the bat my feet started bothering me which came as a suprise because I didn't have any issues like that in my training. I have high arches so they were a big issue all 3 days! We met up with Tina after Pit 1 and she walked with us the rest of the way pretty much(atleast with Jen). I walked up until the big hill after lunch(I couldn't do it with all the pain I was in), so I took my first sweep van after about 16 miles. I got my arches taped at Pit 4 and then went on my way. Only problem was that the tape was so tight and was rubbing and pulling at my feet. So I ended up having to catch a sweep van to Pit 5 and having it sort of cut off. I walked the last mile or so to camp (after ripping the rest of the tape off half way). So...because of the tape I ended up with blisters on the side of both of my feet - LOVELY!

We had a great time Friday at camp with relaxing, sitting around and chatting and then crashed.

Day 2
We got up bright and early again, ate our breakfast and then Jen and I were on our way. Right around between Pit 2 and Pit 3 my feet were hurting pretty bad along with shin splints to boot. Jen's knee was really bothering her too. We made it to Pit 3 and then we took the bus to lunch. Jen got checked out at lunch and ended up getting red carded(no longer able to walk) because of tendonitis or a pulled patela tendon. She took the bus back to camp to get checked out and I tried to carry on. I met up with my new walking buddy Katrina at Pit 4 and we walked/swept the remainder of the way. We had a blast though!

At camp we had a performace by Candy Coburn and then we had a dance party which was a blast!! I shook my booty ALOT =)

Day 3
We started off around 6:30 and had all of our gear and everything packed up and ready to go. Jen wasn't able to walk the last day so we met her at the finish line. Katrina and I started our day off in pain..but we were good. We headed on our way. We took the sweep vans a few times, but we walked about half the day. We actually finished the last 6 I believe. We had a good time but were getting a little delirious towards the end!

We got to the finish line and were able to finish it with Jen and then we got to sit and relax for a little while before walking into closing ceremonies.

Closing ceremonies were great! I was very emotional once I was able to see my family, especially my mom and my niece. I was so glad to be able to say that I did it!

I got to say goodbye to some of my friends and then we headed home. Vickie had decorated my house with streamers, signs and balloons to welcome me home. It was awesome! Jen and I were pretty much vegged out on the couches the rest of the night.

So after I have been on both sides of the 3day, I have decided that I enjoy the crew side of things more. So I am going to be going back to crewing next year and most likely co-captain for the camp services crew - WOOHOOO!!

I will keep you posted!

Thank you everyone for supporting and encouraging me!! Wouldn't have been able to do it without all of your support!
